Wills, Power of Attorneys, and Estates

Wills and Power of Attorneys in Orleans/Ottawa and Beyond

One of our major services is the drafting of wills. For most clients, a standard will is a quick and inexpensive procedure. We also draft specialized wills for those who have special circumstances which need to be addressed, such as for clients with holding companies. In addition to a Will, we strongly recommend clients to sign Power of Attorneys for both financial matters and for personal care (healthcare).

Our fee for a standard Will and two Power of Attorneys for a couple is $450 plus HST.

Our fee for a standard Will and two Power of Attorneys for a single person is $350 plus HST.

Where clients are physically unable to attend our office, we will make house calls or hospital visits for a small additional cost.

Some clients have handicapped adult children. We usually recommend a 'Henson Trust' clause in the parents' will to better safeguard assets for their handicapped children.

As we draft many wills, it follows that we are also quite experienced at probating and administering estates. We advise executors on how to manage an estate and, if requested, we can manage many of the executor's duties. When it is required, we will probate a will by obtaining a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee for the executor. We have probated over a thousand wills since our inception.

Survivorship Application

Where property is owned by the deceased and a spouse jointly, probate may be able to be avoided by registering a Survivorship Application, which will have the effect of transferring the property to the surviving spouse.

Contact us today to plan for the future and be assured your wishes will be carried out in the event of your death.
