Meet Our Team

After an initial career as a technical officer at the University of Ottawa, Les graduated from Ottawa University Law School in 1979 and was called to the Bar in 1981. Les opened the law firm in Blackburn Hamlet in 1982 and was joined by Greg Farnand in 1984. Les has been an instructor for the real estate portion of the Bar Admission Course and conducts seminars for groups interested in real estate and wills. In addition to practicing law, Les is a well-known chess expert who has served as President of The Chess Federation of Canada and wrote the chess column for the Ottawa Citizen newspaper in the 1980s. More recently, Les has become an avid golf player.

Greg graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1981 with two degrees in law and in administration. He was called to the Bar in 1983 and has always been in private practice in Ottawa since that time (he has been partnered with Les in Blackburn Hamlet since 1984). He now practices as a solicitor in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, and corporate law. He has lived in Ottawa all his life and is the proud father of 3 adult daughters. 

Office Manager; Senior Real Estate Clerk

Carole is originally from Clarence Creek, Ontario. With over 16 years experience as a Law Clerk, Carole has developed a strong understanding of legal procedures and practices. With her attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to excellence, Carole plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our firm.

Carole is the Office Manager and a Senior Law Clerk at Bunning & Farnand LLP, primarily working with Residential and Commercial Real Estate.

She obtained her diploma in the Law Clerk program from Algonquin College in 2009, and has worked in the legal field ever since. She has been a part of the team at Bunning & Farnand since 2018.

Wills, Estates, Corporate, and Commercial Clerk

Melissa has been working as a Law Clerk at Bunning & Farnand since January 2014. She was trained in and worked through several career paths including Baker, Library Technician, and finally settling on Office Administration.

She enjoys her work with Wills and Estates, meeting people, learning their stories, and assisting them in some of the most difficult decisions and life changes people can face, with empathy and compassion.

Melissa grew up in Blackburn Hamlet and loves living a short walk away from work. In her downtime she enjoys creative writing, reading, playing video games, spending time with her partner, and keeping her roommate happy (her cat, Tinga.)

Real Estate Clerk

Carolyn Maclean is a bilingual law clerk in Real Estate Law. She graduated from Carleton University B. English Concentration in Creative Writing in 2025. Since joining the firm as a summer student in 2020, Carolyn has developed her skills in real estate and personal matters, accrediting her work on residential sales and purchases, refinances, and wills.

Outside of her practice, Carolyn enjoys rock climbing, creative writing, and being outdoors with her two labradors. Carolyn also works as a basketball referee with the GCBA and trains new referees. She is currently studying for the LSAT and plans to pursue a law degree, aspiring to focus on Immigration Law.

Post-Closing Coordinator

Cathy has been a key member of our law firm for many years, and has always worked on all aspects of conveyancing files. When away from the office, she enjoys travelling, spending time at her cottage, and being with her two adult children.

Office Bookkeeper

With a background in both private and public sectors, Marie is pleased to have been recruited as our Financial Controller. In addition to enjoying work, she volunteers with various local and national organizations.
